You could pass a law that AI must not replace jobs, but it can be an adjunct. Until it becomes particularly obvious that the human is redundant.
The problem scenario is that all the human jobs are lost, you end up with an all powerful oligarchy that control all the resources, and everyone ends up as slaves to corporations.
Another scenario is corporations use the jobs losses to maximize profits, thus prices never come down, and there is no competition. The profits of not having to pay employees is just gobbled up into corporations.
He who pays the piper calls the tune. i.e. corporations will become far too powerful.
