I hear what you're saying, I agree that some people are using these tools to piggyback and fast track their "careers", and that is terrible. Some of the push back I hear from artists, including yourself, sound almost hypocritical though. Most of the argument I hear is "they modeled their ai from my art" which sounds to me like heavy reference. Dont get me wrong, heavy references should be shunned because it's borderline tracing/copying. That being said, what is an acceptable amount of reference when every artist uses reference in some shape or form for inspiration, style and composition? Ai is the boogey man for artist, fearmongered by the same artist who use these techniques and don't like being called out for it, but the people who are pushing these practices to the extremes are doing so for profit like every other artist. The romanticized "starving artist" is an astethic that no one really wants to experience because most people can't live by there means. Just be honest with the tools you use and don't be swayed by your emotions so easily.
