This is a bit premature, I don't recall hearing anyone say that AI was going to take over developers at this point in time, it's more of a potential that it could take over developers over the long run, which is still a likely bet. Realistically, the way I see it, AI can be used as an assistance to get more done for cheaper and in a shorter space of time, that's already true now and the benefits of that is going to grow with time, and what this actually means is that one person can do the job of many people in a shorter space of time and for lower cost, the benefits of which are going to continue to grow as AI becomes more capable in allowing a single person to do more, regardless of skills. Basically, over the next decade, we could go from a studio needing 200 people to get a certain game done to only needing 10 to do the same work, this I can well imagine happening over the next decade, so yes, in many ways, it is replacing developers by cutting down how many are needed and that's the same for art, sounds, music and so on. As for AI replacing developers with little to no input from humans, this is where things get tricky, it could happen at some point, but I suspect AI assistance is more useful because we can guide the AI to do what we want, but regardless of that, it will get rid of a lot of jobs if one person can do the job of 50, and the ones that will benefit the most from that is small indie studios that have limited resources and manpower, they will end up being able to do much grander games thanks to AI assistance. In any case, let's not kid ourselves, AI is still quite new and has developed quite rapidly, it's scary to think where it could be over the next decade or two, and yes, it's going to get rid of a lot of jobs whether we like it or not, that's the nature of progress and the capitalist system is designed for that, businesses will be pressured in using AI just to compete, consumers will always be pulled towards cheaper or better goods, AI is very likely going to squeeze workers from top to bottom out of most labour markets and wait till robotics with AI are thrown in the mix. Either way, the fear and arguments against AI use and it's taking over jobs are not that different from the arguments used over 100 years with automation, but automation won in the end because it was better, AI will win for the same reason, potentially better, faster, more productive and cheaper and thank god it will because without automation, we would be a lot poorer today as humans can't come close to the productivity of automation, I mean heck, just look at farming and how much of the workforce that used to use up compared to how little it does today, AI and robotics is going to change the dynamic and allows us to do things that were seen as impossible now, it's exciting but also scary for the human workforce, but it's happening regardless.
