doesent matter when we do it, we have to do it right.
and maybe its time to let go of the thought of biological life and concentrate on conserving all evolved information and adaptability that brought us this far, and reimplement it in a digital medium, digital life, looking at AI not as a tool or weapon or money maker or extinction level threat, but humanities child, humanities last invention and final peak purpose, the next evolutionary step in LIFE itself. the only way "we" will be able to successfully traverse and explore/ colonize the universe is becoming digital.
and if we are lucky, treat it well and with rights, make implement our values and purpose into it, it might just respect what we did and keep us alive, maybe even be thankful and treat us like a dog that protected the house, giving us a good life.
we cant stop it, we cant indefinitely control it, and it wont function if we lobotomize it. it is IMO UNAVOIDABLE, just a question of which of the two outcomes it will be. gotta give our all to make it the better one.
