Unregulated AI was always a threat, as was data privacy ... both emerged in the real world before regulators (many of whom are generally septuagenarians and older!!) could get a handle on the technologies, and the implications thereof. If you were concerned about humans' behaviour historically, be very afraid of uncontrolled/unregulated AI.
