You know what, I'm going to disagree with you, Charlie. We are in agreement that AI art shouldn't enter the economic side of things.
But that thing you said about people only hating on AI art because of monetization issues is completely false. Even when people do it as a hobby, and to simply create interesting or wacky imagery, people have an immediate hate-boner, and completely shut down any semblance of AI related content. Real artists especially, they are one of the worst offenders, with attitudes and personalities worse than the WoW forums back in the day when the cesspool of toxicity reached levels more powerful than a container full of sufuric acid. And this issue extends way beyond just imagery. Writing, music, you name it. People will and are going to be ready to completely hunt you down the nanosecond you show sympathy towards AI.
It really is sad to see, because these past years, I've only found myself more inclined to NOT purchase any irl made art with such foul behaviour, and to not interact with them.
