I think its a lot less deep than that
AI doesn't have to have consciousness to be an apocalyptic threat, the real threat of AI was addressed in the first 5 minutes of the video and its very real. The capacity to handle mental labor, as opposed to only muscle labor which is the only things tools have been useful for so far. And with only having access to the latter, we've managed to fuck up the planet beyond repair.
The gap between people with access to cutting edge AI and those who don't is going to radically shift and exacerbate a lot of power structures.
