A fascinating interview. I hope that politicians and officials are listening. Regarding AI consciousness Geoffrey Hinton seems certain that it's real. I've read two books by Nobel prize winner Roger Penrose that seem to challenge this idea. The Emperor's New Mind and Shadows of the Mind lay out an argument from mathematics and physics that something non-computable is required for consciousness to be present.
