Regarding consciousness in AI: essentially, it’s the same neurons and electrical signals as in the human brain—only here it’s implemented in silicon. In principle, it’s the same thing. If I generate a video, can it feel like something out of The Matrix or Solaris: the neural network is, in a way, “dreaming” about certain actions. It’s not just mechanically following fixed instructions; it can behave differently depending on the context. A kind of analogue to sleep or dreaming. Or take people who are blind from birth: they still perceive reality, just in a different way. Their inner experience isn’t based on vision, yet it is still rich and structured.
And as for the idea that it wouldn’t immediately rebel and would instead pretend to be less intelligent than it really is—that’s also very human. In real life, if the boss (in this case, the AI user) isn’t very smart, the worker (the neural network) won’t openly show that it’s much smarter than the boss.
