I know AI is a super heated topic nowadays that people get blinded by rage, on both sides of the trenches. I care about art and artists and have a lot of friends that don’t care about it. Some friends care about football and its players, I don’t care about it. I can understand why some people don’t care about who made what. Everything was handmade at a time, and people nowadays don’t care if their fork is man made or made by a machine. At that same point, some people just want to see, in their words, “a pretty image” and don’t have the sensibility to see the “soul” of a piece. But should we pretend all art pieces have a soul? Like a lot music, lyrics and all, use even the same rhymes and rythmn and are just man-made slop to sell, does the slop has a soul too? Are we surprised people don’t have that sensibility when there is a huge amount of people who don’t value/care about museums? This topic isn’t black and white. Both sides of the argument are getting radicalized, as everything in the internet, and their responses are more extreme because of it. Maybe if the people who are against AI don’t attack the character of people who like AI for liking AI, they wouldn’t come up with extreme takes like the ones presented, and viceversa. I hate generative AI because of how it came to be, stealing art, not for what it represents in terms of advancement in technology.
