I don't think using LLM for homework is similar to using steroids. Most people on roids are very dedicated, perhaps obsessively so, to working out and use roids to increase their gains. Sure you can get gains from steroids without lifting, but those people are in the minority. very few students who rely on LLM do so in a constructive manner and instead use that as a shortcut to avoid as much work on their part as possible.
Also the example of the teacher giving assignment as written classroom work is not a long term solution. class time is not effectively used if all the teacher did was stand in front of the class silently while students work on exercises. Classroom time should be spent teaching and discussing.
