Thank you so much for speaking truth on this! I worry greatly about AI as a young person.
If politicians don’t speak to sensible regulate AI (limit on data centers, support for unions and contracts that handle AI changes, ban fully autonomous vehicles, stricter environmental standards, etc.) then we cannot vote for them. We will not have a country left. Catholic Social teaching emphasizes the dignity of work and value it provides to our way of life. AI can be a tool but because of insufficient regulation, Bernie is right: the effects will be “dehumanizing.” And we must act before it’s too late to ensure the technology “serves human needs” as a tool for us rather than an instrument of our own destruction
