The opioid epidemic was perpetrated by avarice greed that left in its wake, social destruction. Surveillance capitalism (esp. facial recognition), too, will have an unimaginable amount of casualties. I wonder how many lives were destroyed, careers irreparably ruined all b/c they were labelled w/a punitive, digital Scarlet Letter, by those who are accountable to no one?
