Why is it even cheating? If the student can analyze what the AI wrote and say "yes, that's what I know is true, I feel comfortable about submiting this word-for-word" or, "It's wrong in some places but I can modify it myself to save on time." and the student gets an A. Then good, how is that cheating? They clearly know the knowlege they are supposed to spit out whenever the professor says. AI can't cheat in-person so it's up to the student to know the knowlege as well.
If some students don't care about looking over whatever the AI spits out and willy-nilly submits infactual information, then they get the appropiate grade for it. If they fail, they fail. Simple as. No cheating involved, just saves on time.
