First episode after a long time that I don't agree with. This is fearmongering, it's the same thing as in the 90ies where "experts" said that playing Doom will turn the kids into mindless killers.... Here's my view.
First of all, forget all the AI hype that's happening these past couple of years. Yes, search engines are getting better to converse with but it's not "Artificial Intelligence" by a long shot. These applications still need a prompt to provide a reply. As long as a promp is required, there is no "intelligence". Press Win+R on your PC and type "cmd" then press "enter". The command prompt window will open and an underscore will be blinking, waiting for you to type something for the program to execute. THAT IS THE "AI" at this time. This flashing underscore. it's just the commands what became more simple, rather than the complicated, specific commands these apps used back then. So, no. As long as an AI needs a prompt to operate, it's not AI and it shouldn't be called an "AI".
Secondly, even if we do manage to spark a singularity, a program that thinks and doesn't need a prompt to operate. Even then, it still won't find the humans as a threat. Like in the "Matrix" movies, the first thing the AI realized is that it needs humans. Even if it is for labour. As long as humans don't treat the AI hostile (unlike most people "talk" to the chatbots), the AI will probably try to coexist with humans. Think of it this way... Nature built it's own "bio-inteligence". Through trying and trying, it got to us. Did the first thought we had as the "most intelligent spiecies" is "all the other lifeforms are useless and need to be extinct"? No. AI will come to the same conclusion.
Anyway, TRUE AI is far from being accomplished, a true AI can't be a binary system. Our Intelligence isn't a binary system, our neurons don't "either fire or don't". True AI will come with Quantum Computing and that's at least a century too soon to be feasible. So yeah... Tone it down with the fear mongering and click baiting with this topic. Your computer won't try to kill you any time soon.
Cheers.
P.S. Even the devs call it "AI" because "AI" SELLS! It's a marketing trick, not actual Artificial Intelligence. Bing and ChatGPT are "Artificial Inteligence" as much as Akinator is a Mind Reader.
P.S.2 Saddest part is that my comment will be buried under all the scared, inadequetly educated commentators that are afraid of what they don't understand. It's the same thing as religion actualy...
