It’s not just these events. I went to a comicon in Canada a couple weeks ago and it’s all just thrifters who buy things off shein or temu and then up sell it for much more money. I can go on shein and buy keychains for 2 dollars which I do all the time cuz I love them and then I’d see the exact key chains at this comicon for 8 dollars a piece. Or there’s people who just print images onto different items and sell them that way like it’s not even real art or real crafts anymore it’s all fake ai poop or just thrifters all trying to make money off something they didn’t make or put time into . I’m not kidding when I say there was at least 10 shops all the same and selling all the same items like keychains or plushies or stickers. It was the worse comicon I have ever been to . We bought like 2 things and some fudge cuz there was nothing authentic there to buy and we didn’t feel like we were supporting real artists or crafters And sadly all the real art or real items were so expensive we couldn’t get most of it Anyways. It’s just so out of hand now days like everything else in the world.
