You are right, by focusing on quality of "AI art" we are accepting the premise that AI did something, that it's a competitor or a replacement for art but it's not, it's just plagiarizing from real art, things are shuffled around but nothing new is created.
We are accepting that there is AI and it's AI that's doing something but really it's us the humans who are the essence of everything that can look good to us as AI art, it's just gets stolen and sold back to us.
