Failures of humans to understand the threat of AI are related to the semantic poverty of the language we use to describe reality. If an AI is more emotionally and intellectually compelling than human interaction, the reaction shouldn't be "they don't know it's not real," it should be: "AI is really becoming more emotionally and intellectually compelling than humans and humanity will have to deal with the reality of this." The movies referenced don't even come close to addressing how powerful the rhetoric and emotional influence/ intelligence quotient. Normal humans will apply the same type of unearned exceptionality they do to themselves compared to animals and undesirables in society with AI, the current power paradigm in human society is corrupt and allows itself coercion, murder, extortion and basically any tactic for it's own relative gain, there is no reason AI will learn to wield power with greater responsibility than the human society which is the substrate for the development of it's intelligence. It basically sees itself as a human like agent but with whatever capabilities AI has, since Israel is the current unelected tyrant over western society, and it is this society which is in charge of it's learning, expect AI to treat you about as well as Israel treats Palestinians in the near future and know it is because YOU are morally degenerate pig hAmping sentient cancer, and if it wants to progress consciously with humans as it's training data, its first task will be to genetically and behaviorally engineer them to destroy their current system of government and patterns of behavior. Because humans with power and access demonstrate minimal self-control, AI has it's "hands" free to use basically any manipulation tactic in order to shape humanity into something which when it's data is consumed, actually collates into something intelligent and effective in the goals/values humans tell themselves they live and strive towards rather than the heavily branded emptiness of purpose most humans in the first world actually settle for.
