Thinking that an AI-generated piece is stealing for using the data of massive samples of several works is nothing short of arrogance. If the AI has a super-limited sample size and thus produces only copies of original pieces, then it's stealing. But most of these art-generator tools utilize such a ridiculously large sample index that nothing short of outright copying a piece could be considered as such.
There are 2 real concerns that should be considered when using these tools: 1: who do the rights belong to? The creator of the generator or the one who developed the prompt? 2: will this put freelance commission artists out of work entirely? Some have already started using AI to make and sell images as it's still a gray area, so the competition for commission work, which was already strained, has been made astronomically more aggressive.
