The video is an excellent suggestion, but in my view, the battle for collective relevance is already lost; recovery seems impossible.
We don't need more than a few personal connections to fulfill our social needs. The rest—the "outer world"—is mediated through screens (TVs or mobile devices). Therefore, having just 500 or so deep connections is sufficient for our social requirements. This effectively makes it irrelevant for powerful billionaires to concern themselves with the remaining 8 billion people.
The world is already highly divided. Before universal rules apply to AI, the 8 billion people who are not part of this powerful elite will effectively vanish. It is pointless to worry about the fate of the wider human population, as we have already lost this game. Our future will be decided by the 500+ ultra-rich and powerful individuals who control all resources. In their view, the rest of us are simply not required, even for the social needs they can satisfy entirely within their own small, powerful circle.
