It depends on the quality of the software and data that supports it. It doesn't seem too complex to me. It's basic statistics. I'm not surprised to find that the software reflects developers predispositions at all. It would be down right strange for my work to reflect yours.
But your main conclusions need to be said. #2 regarding how assumptions of people impact outputs of programs can't be overstated. Other presenters have made the same case in other areas. Face recognition is a big one. Now we see this.
