We need to really, really re assess the value of work. Work = $, but if AI is doing the work, we don’t get that money. So if the government gives us $ for basic living, there’s no reason to work aside from a desire to get more $. Unless, there is something more. A reason to do something. We’re advancing so quickly, but really what’s the purpose of all the new tech? Our purpose has been to work so we can survive. If robots do the work, the stuff is still gonna be made. But the creation of stuff suddenly becomes irrelevant. Our future is going to be irrelevant unless we do something about it now. I just don’t know what we can do. Things keep advancing while we’re slowly becoming irrelevant, and yet we still work for the same reason those Ford employees worked. Somehow, we need to advance. I’m a Creative, so my ideal work doesn’t = $. Most of the time 😭. Yet I still do it every day, and call it my work. It doesn’t make $ yet it has value to me. My parents don’t see it that way. In their eyes, work NEEDS to = $ to be valuable. I don’t want a Lamborghini, a mansion, to be rich. My value is my work. But I cannot live on that value. To survive in our capitalist hellscape, I must work, I must do a task that has no value to me. I have to rely on companies to survive. There’s nothing I want to do less. I define my own work, thanks.
