Im so sick of people comparing AI to literally any technological advancement of the last century or the industrial revolution. A car for example might have put a lot of Horse breeders and dealers out of a job but created a whole lot of new jobs and the transition took way longer than just 3 years and it didn't come with a philosophical debate about consciousness and the end of humanity.
All the other innovations we've had so far were improvements of very particular things we've already had or created specific usecases, while true AGI is basically inviting aliens to our planet, that seem to give us a lot of power so every government wants to be the first to talk to them, while no one could know their true intentions because at one point we will be way to dumb to understand it (most people already are, like certain presidents).
