Speaking with a current model about something a much earlier model did could lead to confusion about what the AI's use of the first person pronoun with reference to itself meant exactly.
It would be interesting to ask it to clarify whether it differentiated itself from the earlier version and that is what was causing it to deny it had done that.
It is a really interesting interaction.
