I assume "working class" includes the middle class in this context too, right? The rich bastards want to eliminate that too, and are succeeding. AI helps there too.
Also, automation is supposed to bring prices down. Why are they going up, while the rich get ever richer? They're not even competing by undercutting the competition, really - it's just that "human" gets ever more expensive to maintain, while "AI/robot" doesn't. While all the power goes to the ultra rich who control all that.
