Very thought provoking and informative video. I truly appreciate that you did a good job clearing up the misinformation surrounding how AI creates images after being trained. There are so many falsehooods going around in the anti-art videos that it appears to be more intentional than just a misconception. I am pro-art. I use the terms anti-art and pro-art because I think those who are against AI generated art are just anti-art and want to keep people from enjoying art and enjoying creating art in a whole new way. With AI generated art, there is so much more art to appreciate and that's a wonderful thing! So I am very pro-art. Anyhow, I have some thoughts after viewing your video (and many others on the topic because I want to know the arguments against creating art this way). If the living artists who don't want to participate in the training process have all their works removed from the dataset (if they were there to begin with), it will not make the AI "bad" or even "not as good" because it will be trained on all the art that is no longer protected by copyright. It will be trained on all the masters and all the art movements that led up to these new anti-art creators. The art will still be fabulous and will continue to rival the art made by the anti-art creators. And with the argument that there will be so much art that it will reduce the value of the anti-art creator's work, this will happen even if their work is not in the training data. That's because more art that is readily available will be a very good thing for consumers/appreciators of art and it will reduce the monetary value of most art. But certainly not all. Artists who are exceptionally talented with a well defined style that's unique will always have value in the world of art. Mediocre artists will no longer be able to charge ridiculous sums for their finished pieces or their commissioned works. That's a good thing for art consumers/art appreciators. In the end, what is more important: more art that everyone can access and appreciate, or a limited amount of art with inflated prices for artists to take advantage of? Everyone's work will be replaced by AI in time. I'm a writer and there are already AI models that can write exceptionally well. It doesn't stop me from writing or from sharing my work with the world. It will likely mean that I can't earn money doing it (which is fine because I write because I'm passionate about it and I want people to be able to read it). There will also be so many books written by AI that mine might be a lot harder to find, but that doesn't matter. I will still write and there will still be readers, at least until humans stop reading books. I sincerely hope that the courts make a Fair Use ruling because it meets all the citeria for Fair Use aside from the "diluting the value of the original works" argument, which will happen without the copyright protected art in the dataset, making it an irrelevant point in the end.
