Ai is in a pretty scary spot right now. On one hand it’s already destroyed the field of digital art, and I’ve seen countless businesses and websites use ai art instead of paying actual artists to make things for them. But on the other hand it’s half baked and way too unreliable to be truly helpful. For example, you can’t ask chat gpt to code anything past what a human could learn in a year without needed to look through the entire script and change things. People who work in comp sci could make a calculator is a few minutes, they don’t need Ai to help them with that. What they do need is Ai to help them with huge data sets and saving time writing tens of thousands of lines of code. But Ai can’t be trusted to do that and it’s better in the long run to do it yourself then try to have the Ai do it and constantly mess up or create new problems. It’s the same for math, the simple stuff it can do someone in the field can do in a few minutes, but what they would want Ai for it can’t be trusted. It would be great to have an Ai instead of a financial advisor, but you can’t trust it to not make a mistake. So for Ai to truly become useful it need to become much better than it is, which will undoubtedly make it replace more jobs and fields. I can imagine replacing the music industry in the same way it did digital art where you can’t tell what was Ai generated or not.
