It's a pity this video didn't address one of the cheaper options for providing a basic income: negative income tax (NIT). Instead of giving the same UBI to everyone, it gives the full amount only to those who have no other income. For every dollar you earn, your NIT decreases by around 50 cents (so it doesn't disincentivize work, because earning more still increases your total income). Once you're earning enough to live on, you no longer qualify for the NIT. It's like the Earned Income Tax Credit the US has now, but without all the hoops to jump through. You just get your income check automatically based on your earnings. NIT helps those who need it most without giving extra money to those who already have plenty.
