The key to life is energy. It's humans keep the energy flowing. AI needs servers, which consume vast amounts of energy. The energy comes out of the ground. You could build a robot to do it, but what's to stop the robot coming to its own conclusions and buggering off fishing? Switch off the servers, cut the wires and it's a brain in a box. Yes, we'd lose the ability to watch the test match, but perhaps we'd talk to one another...
