OK, so first the jobs will go, but then the companies will go because they have no paying customers ... because the customers don't have jobs and therefore don't have money to pay for whatever the company is producing. So, what happens to a company that cannot sell its stock or its services because there is no one to buy them? GOES BUST - first its stock plummets, but let's assume its a private company, so its revenues plummet, and then, it lays off even more people, which feeds in the spiral. In the end there will be NO RICH PEOPLE in the CURRENT SENSE OF THE WORD. Is that what they want? No, the ego needs its riches. So, there are two options: 1. The rich will try to curtail AI and robotics 2. They will give up their riches and embrace a new system - a RESOURCE BASED ECONOMY where all resources are declared common to all people and the technology is used to elevate us rather than subjugate us. Which is more likely? Probably (1) because (2) would mean losing notions like money and class. That is just unacceptable to these people. But, maybe some of them would just say "I had enough. I achieved so much in my life and I would like to experience what it is like NOT to work for a year, NOT be stressed that I am going to lose everything, GIVE MORE to my family and community, and BUILD SOMETHING NEW that will make everyone rich: with HAPPINESS, JOY, and FREEDOM." We will live and we shall see.
