While I don't see anything wrong with AI as a concept/tool, the sourcing of its data set is a huge problem. Artist consent should be with 100% acknowledgment and not written in fine print of a ToS agreement or a between some corprate bodies data share. If they didn't consent to their art being used as training data then it shouldn't be used simple as that. Also the difference between conventional physical mediums, digital mediums and AI generated art, to me at least, is the equivalent of if you wanted some fresh bread you could 1. Make it all by hand and knead it yourself spending the most time and effort. 2. Use a stand mixer to help with some of the work to save time and effort (or in arts case mostly just long term material cost) but fundamentally YOU are still making the bread. A stand mixer will not bake your bread. 3. Using an automatic bread machine where at most you could take credit for the ratio of ingredients (or prompt for AI) but you have no hand in the actual making of the bread itself. You put in no effort and try to claim the results are yours. Just y'know alot more theft involved for actual AI work.
