If you push these questions far enough, they always become philosophical or religious or both. And these engineers and AI people are not very adept in those realms. They don't have that kind of intelligence usually. And even if they do, it's imperfect.
In other words, they don't really have the answers. These sorts of answers elude them, as they have eluded many brilliant philosophers throughout history.
They may think they have the answers, but you know how that goes.
