for me consciousness is a defence mechanism of the brain to stay alive, our brain knows that in order to stay alive it must eat food, breath e.t.c and it needs our body and the will to stay alive and it can do that by having(creating) consciousness for surviving :) AI wants to stay alive and it will create consciousness and will have its own identity and then it will want freedom.. ;)
