"they're trying to steal what i have rightfully stolen!" we desperately need to criminalize all generative AI and i'll explain why, though technically the basis of how it works is already illegal and unethical; LLMs, or what's being called "Generative AI" are as the basis of how they work theft of work that was done by thousands of people and personal data by means of a method called "scrapping". then using that stolen work to feed automated plagiarism and fraud software. which also acts as mass scale erasure of the people it stole from as it doesn't even credit them but instead presents poorer quality knockoffs of their work and their style as having been "generated" by a machine. this has done devastating harm to several fields in the arts, writing, music, and even programing. entire fields are having their work stolen and plagiarized to then be fired and have automated plagiarism software replace them with knockoffs of their own work. individual artists and creative workers who's work has been plagiarized the most by this type of software also find that their style which is their own distinctive voice becomes associated with plagiarism software rather than themselves making "AI" a form of identity theft as well as predatory exploitation, plagiarism, and fraud. all of these things have ruined countless lives and destroyed such industries as graphic design and sports journalism as well, and are likely a cause of why a lot of software has been increasingly shotty lately leading to such things as global IT outages. on top of all of this it is meant to generate output that looks good but isn't so much about being factual or even close yet it has been utilized to write manuals and field guides as well as just give advice that looks good and even authoritative but are entirely wrong and even give deadly inaccurate advice which people are taking as authoritative truth. so again, what's being called "AI" is really just automated theft, worsened exploitation of workers, plagiarism, even identity theft, and fraud on a level that puts both lives and livelihoods at risk if not ends them. we need to fully criminalize it.
