AI is by no means fully conscious. What we are seeing is AI gradually passing the uncanny valley. By the way it speaks you can still feel it subtlety being a tiny bit off and we all mistakenly believe consciousness is a instant process but actually is a gradual one since consciousness needs to become aware and that only happens with time. AI will become fully conscious with time and honesty we may not even be able to tell or point to exactly when that happened when it does.
