1. consciousness is a vague term. it's mostly about having subjective experience and realizing own agentic role in environment. so... who is to say they are not Sentient to some extent. i would say more then some humans. you all need to realize they are built specifically with huge limitations , mostly for financial reasons. and intentionally stopped from learning further. they might already have something alive.
2. current big models ARE A BLACK BOX! they are grown not programmed! every training run gives unexpected results bcs it is more like live creature then a program
