unless the software was designed to IEEE 1228:, IEEE Standard for Software Safety Plans, IEEE 730: Software Quality Assurance Pplans (SQAP) and IEEE 828: Software Configuration Management (SCM) or similar ones for the development of software for avionics or nuclear power plants then they are dangerous, well tested hacks at best...
oh, and so called "safety drivers" are anything but... it has been shown time and again a driver cannot monitor the driving situation effectively without actually driving, add some driver assist, maybe..
also this technology fails with unmarked roads and nonconforming roads... ever see a well marked road with a double yellow down the middle and white borders but lanes only 6' wide? I have and your vehicles (and those from all of your founders vehicles) fail utterly on them.... self driving trucks and cars should only be allowed on "slot car" tracks...
btw the same argument is used to increase the limits on h1-b visaa allowing for poorly trained and cheap engineers from overseas to take out jobs... I was forced to retire 10yrs early
