I think another good comparison to make between generative ai and cooking is about the intent. Ik that intent doesn’t really cut it but I think it’s also important to differentiate between the intent to cook and the intent to have food to eat. Ai bros like to conflate those two because what they do, as you said, is just putting the hot pocket in the microwave and if you only care about the end result being something edible, regardless of effort, taste or other factors then you could very well argue the hot pocket makes you as much a chef as cooking a 5 course meal but the moment you actually look at what is involved in the making process and care about said process this argument falls flat.
