Weirdly nuanced take on the issue of people generating AI art. Our economic system currently values specialization, where each individual is expected to learn and become great at one skillset. Before AI art, the barrier to creating a piece that didn't look like it was drawn by a child was to practice and learn the skills to create. Those who prioritized different skills when they were younger now have much less time on their hands to try to learn how to create and are locked out of the process. Now with AI art, the barrier is much lower and people are thinking its a good way to get their ideas into a piece. The main reason a lot of AI art looks soulless is because it all looks similar. Most people use the same base models and settings, and so many pieces are going to look samey and soulless. I'm okay with AI art as long as you take credit for only the part you played in it's creation. "I wrote a prompt in ChatGPT to make this" is all the credit many will deserve, though some put more time and effort into training their own personal models, and editing images to make them work better in the training. I think also because it is so hard to assign proper credit, copyrighting AI art should not be allowed.
