I'd add one more refutation. In no way is the generated image "what the prompter desired" or what's in their head, they are either saying (a) eh, close enough (b) i had no picture in my head but this looks cool (c) I had an idea but i am pleasantly surprised by what I'm seeing. The feeling of "creating" that shad describes is mistaken, it's a blip of dopamine and surprise. I'm a working motion graphics artist, I've also messed around with these tools and I can say with near certainty that any positive feeling you can get from running the prompt and experiencing the output is the equivalent of browsing a stock footage website, typing some search terms, and finding the right clip for your job. Art director is a stretch, you're a glorified envato subscriber (which is ironic because stock libraries like envato have been lighting fast at adding ai to their service). The real art comes from what you do with the stock, and how YOU the artist transform it, not the act of subscribing and searching and downloading.
