Look forward to seeing the nightshade's cure develop! AI lowers the skill floor, which makes art more accessible. Definitely a double edged sword. on one side more people are passionate about and enjoy their art process, regardless if it involves AI. On the other, the low barrier results in a flood of low quality content, fake propoganda, harmful deepfakes, etc, but as with all technology I reckon the pros massively outweigh the cons. It sucks AI is first taking over the creative jobs rather than the miserable labour jobs, but I think that's because it's easier to develop AI for creativity. And I think it's important to continue to develop AI, even artistic AI, because then that experience will teach us how to make epic AI that takes over the shitty labour jobs, that replaces neuro surgeons, etc. Sad there is a big environmental cost to AI models but honestly I don't think it's bad at all. Like the impact of 100 cars being manufactured and used over a lifetime, for a super smart super useful super interesting AI model that can then be relatively cheaply run anywhere, forever, is an exceptional deal. It's strange you like when 'real' artists copy your style, since they need to deeply analyse it, which means they have deeply thought about it and thus respected it, but you dont have this belief for the ai 'artist'? Even though likely they saw your art, though it was great, wanted to reproduce it, and then tinkered with the prompt/models/settings to get an AI artwork they think is great and that they think follows your artstyle.
