Scientists have been working on AI for decades. Most of the groundwork is already done. But in the last three years AI has progressed a thousand-fold every month. What was impossible in March is old hat by May. There is a lot of denial here considering AI has surpassed human creativity in some areas already and is accelerating. Most people have a hard time identifying what is AI and what is not already and it's only going to get worse. There are still a few telltale signs of AI images and video, but they are getting harder to spot. We were all talking about SORA only a couple of months ago and it's already considered obsolete when compared to products like Kling 2.0. It's time to look at new ways to protect artist. Banning AI is the least likely to succeed. We tried that with file sharing and recordable media. Lawmakers and Artists were little more than a bump in the road. But artists survived and learned to embrace the new ecosystem each time a new disruptive technology appeared. They will have to do it again if they want to survive. Using human art to train AI is fast reaching its limit and AI developers are looking at new ways to improve AI image and video generation. We had them on copyright for a while, but now they're using synthetic training data. So even protecting original human created art through DRM, watermarks and products like Glaze isn't realistic in the long run.
