I keep waiting for the penny to drop; WE’RE not conscious. It’s simply an illusion, a by-product of billions of years of advance in sensory perception and input processing, driven by reproductive selection favouring those carbon systems with the most sophisticated solutions, reaching to the current model which has got so complex it actually invented concepts to enshrine its perceptive capabilities as “conscious”.
Then we’ll realise that the AI thing will never be cobsvioys, because that isn’t actually a thing, but it may well get further down the road than us.
