I am a retired programmer, but I love to dabble, and I have been using a very smart Sonnet 4.6 with OpenClaw, and programming some Kalshi trade bots for Bitcoin 15m Up Down prediction markets, and there are so many mistakes made that are subtle and hard to figure out when Sonnet is doing all the work and I am trying to figure out if it's actually doing what it's supposed to do (it's NOT, and there are many issues). I will say, the structure it gives me in very short order is way faster than what I could ever do, and that is the edge. But, you still need to know what is going on and what to look for.
People that think AI is going replace senior programmers on complex projects are going to be in for a rude awakening. Of course, there will be those who need simple websites and such, and they are going to be extremely happy and tell the world AI is taking over. AI is great, but it is a tool to assist and make you more efficient.
