"originality doesn't exist" is such a BS concept. There's all kinds of beautiful art that is similar to art made previously in all kinds of mediums but no matter what there are differences bc every person is different even in tiny ways. Even in split fiction they were making references to other fun books and video games but they were still unique. It's just there to discourage people from making things. Originally I heard this from older adults as a kid and they were all trying to force me out of making art. My hobby?? Not even my future choice for college or anything. Now people are using it to justify BS like live action remakes of old movies, AI art and AI scripts, and making money without paying people.
