Here’s a genuine qualm with the whole ‘what’s going to happen to my job?’ question posed by so many: who cares? The whole point of automation systems is to free people from doing menial maintenance tasks on the things that keep the world sustained so as to free mental bandwidth for more creative and inguinitive endeavors. In what world are we so brainwashed as to think work is the joy and meaning we ascribe to life? Have we become so brainwashed as to truly believe this?
Granted, those in the positions to control the AI machines and big tech companies are likely more than morally bankrupt and likely to leverage those tools in such a way that will create a large gap between haves and have-nots so as to cling to their misbegotten power for some lack of fulfillment from childhood traumas. But, on paper, automation is supposed to free up time so people can spend with those they love, creating things of beauty, and becoming closer to God…
