Regarding a "Westworld" in which a person could basically behave in any way their impulses directed, without experiencing negative consequences, even where realistic humanoid robots where "violated" or "murdered," etc., here's a thought experiment. In such a scenario, is it possible that a new form of psychological treatment might be realized whereby most people who engage in such unthinkable behavior discover afterwards that (1) their anticipated sense of gratification was minimal or absence and/or (2) they realized such behavior is not something worth pursuing in real life? I think back to when I was about 9 years old and given a BB gun. As many boys do, I used it on a bird that flew into the backyard. Once I viewed the results, I was disturbed even at age 9, and never considered repeating the behavior. Not sure if this story is applicable, but it's interesting to contemplate the vast, never before imagined potentials of the AI future.
