We knew what's coming... I've heard somewhere that people even feel emotional attachments with AI already... Considering that people developed ability to fell in love with each other through text messages few decades already(and even before through letters), it's not a surprise that people can feel emotions towards LLM that mimic people's way of communication, including manipulations...
