If it helps me live a better life, authors can use my story afterwards, i don't really care. The only thing that was holding me back, was the fact that i might one day want to apply for a job at Google, but now i decided to go for theoretical CS instead of AI and will probably stay in academia.
I think it is a great opportunity for people who don't have the time, money, courage or energy for a therapist.
Imagine someone with depression and social anxiety, who won't go to a therapist because the effort is too high for their low motivation levels and they are scared to go to a real therapist. There are a lot of people who need therapy but never do that step. Writing your thoughts and feelings to a program from your home is at least some first step for those.
However, i see a different problem that anyone who does that should be aware of: The ease of use should never be a reason to not go to a real therapist, as soon as you have the money and energy.
