To say that you can only be an artist if you know art is kind of disingenuous, oh fuck it I can’t stand it. I hate it.
Here’s why.
Someone using AI to create art is experimenting. They’re most likely having fun. They are getting to know art. And honestly, it may actually lead somewhere to them creating their own art down the road without AI.
You shouldn’t feel threatened because more people can now do art more easily. I agree AI is bad. It’s not on the same caliber as regular art. But we don’t get to be judgmental like that if someone decides they want to be an AI artist, they have the right to do so, and if you deny them that right are you not gatekeeping them? Have you now become the gatekeeper that you probably fought against when you started out?
Just let people have fun with AI.

And what you said about the Ghibli style, I 100% disagree. To discredit the story behind the art is exactly the same thing that you’re complaining about. Style and art have to work together one cannot overwhelm the other. And honestly, I would watch Princess Mononoke in just about any style you gave me because the story is amazing.
